Meet the team at Excel Water

It’s the end of a long, tough year and the team has kept us going here at Excel. Although this year has come with a great deal of challenges, work has continued safely throughout the pandemic, providing essential services, and helping customers manufacturer their products.

In the spirit of celebrating our team, we wanted to share some more about the people at Excel. We caught up with Emma Armitage, MD, and asked the rest of the team some questions.

Message from Emma:

Keeping everyone safe and well has been our top priority and I’m proud of how the team have supported each other during difficult times. Our business continues to grow, in its 28th year, and new software will enable us to improve our offering to customers in 2021.

Supporting British manufacturing is something close to our hearts. Whether this is helping customers increase production, save money in water reduction, or increasing water quality.

In 2021 we’ll continue to help customers improve processes, boost production, and recycle more water. Keep a look out for our Legionella risk assessment and design service, launching to help you comply with regulations.

I’ve been at Excel since 2002. Seeing what the team have been able to achieve and watching projects come to life makes me proud. It’s so rewarding when we’ve helped a customer with something they were struggling with and solved the problem.

Very best wishes from myself and the team at Excel!

Darren Field | Engineering Director | Joined in 1993 (27 years!)

I visit customers to carry out surveys and discuss their water treatment needs. I prepare quotes and organise projects, including managing the engineering team. We have a team of enthusiastic engineers and a huge amount of knowledge to share with one another.

Making sure jobs are completed to the highest standard falls into my remit. Training the engineers and making sure they understand the systems is also an important part of my role. I help them develop their expertise and ensure they can problem solve.

Aidan Haigh | Water Treatment Engineer | Joined in 2017

I travel all over the UK servicing plant and equipment. I really enjoy driving around the country and seeing new places. No two days are the same and it’s great getting out and about. When I’m not on the road, I design and build electrical control panels back in the factory.

Ryan O’Leary | Project Engineer | Joined in 2016

One of my main duties is visiting client sites to carry out on site water testing. I’m part of the research and development side of projects and provide technical assistance for quotes.

Next year I’ll be taking up the position of Legionella risk assessor as part of our new service. It’s always satisfying finding solutions for clients and I’m happy I get to build on my knowledge and experience helping businesses with their water.

Josh Oxley | Engineering Manager | Joined in 2015

My role touches on many areas of the business. I communicate with customers, making sure their needs are met. I’m part of the project design stages and new installations. I attend client sites to carry out service and breakdown work to various plant and equipment.

Working as part of a team is the most rewarding part of my role. We get to see projects through to completion and we have so much expertise within the business. Solving problems and rectifying broken equipment is always a satisfying part of my week.

Making our customers happy is my main objective! And supporting engineers whilst on site and in the office. I love being part of a team that started out as a small family business and watching it grow and change.

A typical day sees me speaking to new and existing customers, gathering information for quotations, and booking in monthly service work for engineers. I order water treatment equipment plant, pumps, tanks, and filters when needed.

Jessica Dodgson | Admin & Accounts Co-Ordinator | Joined in 2015

My role is very varied. I handle customer orders for new plant and equipment, general customer enquiries, and I manage project logistics. I carry out all administration and accounts tasks and assist Emma with the ISO quality management system.

I like to make sure the customer is always happy and help in any way I can. I enjoy being part of the team here at Excel Water, providing the best service we can.

We hope you’ve been able to put some faces to names. We look forward to the prospect of working together in 2021!
